We are currently carrying out a significant refurbishment of our garden hand trowel mould. We made our first plastic garden tool back in 1999, being one of the first manufacturers to make one-piece glass-filled-nylon garden tools. But it was time for a refurbishment, and so we have skimmed to joint faces, re-machined the scoop/blade and spark eroded the handle. We are also converting the core-pull from an air cylinder to a hydraulic cylinder. The mould will now be ready for tens of thousands of more mouldings.

We make all of our own moulds, either in tool grade aluminium or, as in this case, tools steel to withstand the abrasivness of glass-filled-nylon. The new hydraulic cylinder pulls the cores (which make the handles hollow) out of the way so that the trowel can fall out of the mould.
